Hi there!
My name is Tony D’Amato Stortz and I’m the new Outreach Coordinator at St. Mary’s. I am very much looking forward to getting to know each of you individually, but until the state of the world allows for that, I thought I would introduce myself here and hopefully learn something about you as well!
A little bit about myself: I’m a recent grad from the University of Guelph and a Kitchener boy through and through (I was even baptized at St. Mary’s!). I have worked in politics for a local MPP, in human rights combating white supremacists, and in addictions / homelessness at both The Working Centre and House of Friendship. I was also involved with the tiny homes project here, working with Andrew and the (wonderful) students all summer to deliver ten tiny homes to Lot 42.
I am new to St. Mary’s but have already been moved by the energy and faith that emanates from this parish. You folks have something really special here and I’m truly honoured to be a part of it.
My personal hero is Eleanor Roosevelt because of her fearless advocacy and willingness to walk with people at all levels of society. Outside of this role, I am an amateur woodworker, whiskey enjoyer, and learning how to play tennis!
I am so excited to work with all of you to make this parish, and this city, a better place for everyone. I believe that St. Mary’s is a real platform for goodness in downtown Kitchener and that together we can offer hope, dignity, and love to those who need it the most.
